Paris- duh, of course!
There isn’t a more Instagram worthy picture than one with the Eiffel Tower in it. And I’m here to give you the scoop on how to get the best lighting and angles.
One thing you’re going to have to realize is that its near impossible to get a picture without at least some of the millions of tourists that are also wanting their Eiffel Tower picture. BUT, you can find angles that are going to make sure you’re the focus of your snapshot.
Everyone needs a picture at Place du Trocadero which is on the other side of the river from the Eiffel Tower. And in my opinion, this is the best place to get that classic, full shot, Eiffel Tower pic that is an Instagram must-have. The best time to get this picture is right before sunset. You’ll get that beautifully colored skyline and the “golden hour” skin glow. Plus its up on a hill so you can easily crop those pesky pedestrians out of your snapshot.
The second picture was taken from the park located just southeast of the Eiffel Tower. And let me warn you, this park is almost always full of people, so getting a picture without some family picnic in the background is difficult. But we learned that it’s basically deserted in the mornings before 9 am. Which conveniently provides the best lighting for your Insta-worth pic anyway! So wake up, grab some French coffee to-go and go get that picture for your feed!
Iceland- The Most Underrated Country for a Gorgeous Feed
Iceland quickly became my all-time favorite country to visit the second my plane landed in Reykjavik. The gorgeous landscaping and genuinely kind natives immediately captured my heart and are sure to do the same for you. Iceland’s biggest tourist attraction is the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal resort and spa. The naturally heated water gets its milky blue color from a high silica content which is very nourishing to the body and is the basis for their spa treatments. A picture at the Blue Lagoon is sure to be a showstopper on your Instagram.
Venice
Venice should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World in my opinion. I mean a city that’s literally afloat? Come on! But seriously, Venice is known for its colorful buildings and gorgeous canals, that combined, create the perfect backdrop for any picture.
The first picture is taken on an infamous gondola ride, which by the way, is totally worth the $$$. But if that’s not on your bucket list there are still plenty of ways to get the perfect shot that encaptures the Venetian culture. The second picture was taken outside of my favorite gelato shop on the south side of the Grand Canal, but with beautiful canals everywhere you turn, can be recreated pretty much anywhere you end up in Venice.
Rome
Who doesn’t want to try and recreate the Lizzy McGuire movie? Rome is home to the craziest drivers, the BEST food, and some of the richest history in the world. You couldn’t throw a stone in Rome without hitting some centuries-old piece of history. So my advice? Trek off the beaten path, eat meals at Hole-In-The-Wall restaurants, and really try to get a sense of the Roman culture. After all, “When in Rome…”
Many people think that the most Instagramable structure in Rome is the Colosseum. And while I do believe everyone should visit and explore the Colosseum, the structure that you absolutely cannot miss out on having a picture in front of is the Trevi Fountain. So grab a coin, get there early, and go make a wish. And when I say early, I mean early. I went right after sunrise, which in the summer is about 5:30 in the morning, and the lighting was perfect and the place was basically empty. But if you go midday, it will be too crowded to get a solo shot.
Another place in Rome to get a stellar picture is the Vatican. There’s so much to learn and see when visiting the world’s smallest country, so make sure not to forget to take some pictures on your way in and out! There’s a set of four bridges across the Tiber River on the Northeast side of Vatican City that will give you a perfect backdrop with St. Peter’s Basilica in it.
Pretty much every square inch of Europe is seemingly made to be the background of an Instagram feed, but these are a few of the Cannot Miss Locations. After all, if its not on Instagram, did it really happen?
