Freshman year of college is going to by faster than you could ever imagine. And you don’t want to look back years later wishing that you had taken more advantage of your newfound freedom. So, follow this ultimate college freshman year bucket list of everything you need to do to make sure you have no regrets at the end of the school year.
1. Write a letter to your senior self
Tell her about your hopes and dreams and what you think college will be like. You’ll most likely be completely off, but it’ll be fun to look back on in 4 years.
2. Go to a Karaoke Night with the girls
Even if you never step foot on a stage, karaoke nights are one of the most entertaining ways to spend an evening.
3. Go somewhere fun for Spring Break
Plan a trip somewhere or nowhere. Just plan something fun! This will be your first break in college that isn’t centered around a holiday. So make sure to relax, unwind, and make some memories.
4. Have a Galentine’s Night
Galentine’s Night is my favorite night of the year. Getting all dressed up with the girls and eating at a fancy restaurant, what could be more fun?
5. Volunteer somewhere
Whether it’s an animal shelter or a soup kitchen or anything in between, get out there an volunteer some of your time to those who need it. I promise you’ll leave feeling amazing.
6. Go to an outdoor concert
There are outdoor concerts all the time in college towns, so go see that no-name band for a genre you don’t listen to.
7. Run a 5K/Color Run
…Or walk. 5K’s are a great way to get active in your community and maybe even meet some new people.
8. Host a movie night
Call up your girlfriends and host an all-out, full-throttle, popcorn and candy kinda movie night. Pick out your favorite chick-flick and grab the tissue box.
9. Go to at least one event for each on-campus sport
Even if you hate sports, going to a game is a great way to meet new friends and try new experiences. And who knows? You just might fall in love with watching a sport you barely knew existed.
10. Take a fitness class at the campus Rec
Rec centers are known for giving out free zoomba or kickboxing classes. And even if it’s out of your comfort zone, make sure to take one before the year is up.
11. Pull an all-nighter
This one might happen one its own during fall finals. But if it doesn’t, plan one out and maybe even grab a friend to join you. All-nighters bring you into a delirious stage where you’re bound to make memories that’ll last forever.
12. Take an impromptu road trip
If there’s a beach nearby, pack up the car and take a trip to those ocean waves. And if not, head somewhere you’ve always wanted to go or just get in the car and drive with no destination.
13. Sit in on a lecture you aren’t enrolled in
This seems counterintuitive since you’re constantly dragginggg yourself to class, but find some random class you’re interested in and go listen. Pro Tip: find an upper-level engineering class for a really interesting hour.
14. Play hookie for a day and do a roommate movie marathon
Find a day where you and your roommate can afford to miss class and shut the curtains and lock the doors.
15. Host a games night
Games Nights are the most memorable night you will have in college, and there’s just no explanation for it. Things will inevitably get competitive and exciting and before you know it, you’ll be making it a reoccurring thing. My personal favorite game is For the Girls.
16. Make a new friend standing in line for the bathroom
Girls waiting in line to use the bathroom are surprisingly supportive and friendly so smile, say hi, and make a new best friend
17. Take 1,000 new pictures
Stock up your camera roll with all your new memories. My camera of choice to capture my memories is the Fuji Instamax. I also have this HP Sprocket Portable Photo Printer that connects to my iPhone to print any photo in my camera roll.
18. Make a scrapbook
Use all those new pictures to create a physical representation of all the fun you had this year.
19. Participate in a campus-wide tradition
Every campus has them. They’re usually quirky and random but it’ll bring you a sense of community.
20. Become a regular at a local restaurant
Shop around for your new favorite restaurant and become a friendly face.
College is full of new experiences, but if you don’t slow down and smell the roses every once in a while, freshman year will be over in the blink of an eye. So, make sure to follow this Ultimate College Freshman Year Bucket List to make the best of your first year of freedom.
